Dewkeep is a free virtual pet that lives in your browser. There is no account and no download — open the page and your creature is there. It lives in a small glass terrarium and has three needs that drift down on the real clock, so it notices how long you have been away. Keep it thriving and the terrarium slowly fills in with moss and plants: the world itself becomes the record of your care. Your pet is saved on your device, not on a server, and nothing about it is ever sent anywhere.
How to care for your pet
Your creature has three needs and three matching actions. Fed empties over about 20 hours, Watered over about 14, and Rested over about 30 — all on the real wall clock, whether the tab is open or not. Feed it, mist it with water, and settle it to sleep when it is tired; settling refills rest over roughly six hours and one tap wakes it again.
A visit takes well under a minute, which is the point. An action greys out when its need is already nearly full — the creature simply is not hungry yet, and there is no benefit to tapping more often.
How the terrarium grows
Every day you check in and the creature is awake counts as a thriving day. Thriving days grow it through five stages — Spore, Shoot, Frond, Bloom, Elder — and unlock the sixteen authored pieces of the terrarium, starting with a cushion of moss on the first day and ending with a vine trailing down the glass much later.
Every piece is permanent. Nothing is ranked and nothing is tallied against you: the terrarium itself is the record of how often you showed up, which is worth more than a number would be.
What happens while you’re away
The needs keep draining while you are gone, so the creature notices a long absence — that is the honest trade for a pet that lives on a real schedule. Nothing is ever taken back from you for it: everything you have earned stays, and the creature never regresses a stage.
It cannot die. If all three needs sit at zero for a continuous 48 hours it curls up and goes dormant, keeping its entire terrarium around it, and a single care action wakes it. A weekend away will not do it, and a fortnight away costs you nothing but the days you were out.
Where your pet is saved
In your own browser’s local storage, on the device you play on. It is never sent to a server, there is no account, and we cannot read it. The flip side is that clearing your site data clears your pet.
To keep a backup or move to another device, copy the export code and paste it in on the other side. The code is generated and read entirely in your browser, and importing always asks you to confirm before it replaces an existing pet.
